Channeling his passion for analytics and AI, Murat pioneered the first analytics program of its kind in Canada. His expertise in innovation, ideation and research is evident through his distinct ability to connect business problems with analytical and AI solutions. He is an Associate Professor of Operations Management and Information Systems and has co-authored the Handbook of Metrics for Research in Operations Management, along with several research publications.

Ian is responsible for leadership and delivery of advanced analytical projects for Deloitte in Canada and globally. His academic career includes professor and postdoctoral positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Stanford University, and CERN (European Centre for Particle Physics Research in Geneva).

Hjalmar's research straddles the line between natural and artificial intelligence, investigating the neural implementations and computational principles behind intelligence. Using methods spanning from in vivo to in silica, he has conducted basic research on semi-supervised learning, applied research in deep learning-based object tracking, machine learning applications for acoustic signals, and, more recently, blockchain and privacy-preserving machine learning on encrypted data. His research is published in top-tier scientific journals.

David is the President of DHE Consulting and a Managing Partner at illuminaite, two firms specializing in consulting, advanced analytics, and AI to identify, analyze, and solve business problems. With over 20 years of experience as a consultant and executive, he has advised leading organizations across the globe. An experienced consultant and lecturer, David provides analytical and professional classes to a wide range of academic programs and corporate clients. At Schulich, he teaches Data Visualization and Modelling. He’s passionate about analytics and data visualization and getting organizations to not only understand the power of analytics, but also how critical analytics are to their survival. David holds a BASc in Engineering, a BA in Economics, and an MBA in Strategy and Innovation from the University of Toronto.

Divinus Oppong-Tawiah headshot

Divinus Oppong-Tawiah

Dr. Divinus Oppong-Tawiah researches how new technologies evolve organizational forms and practices. He focuses mostly on how sociality unfolds and shapes digitally enabled organizational work. He studies these concepts in contexts such as IT innovation in digital platforms; collective intelligence and open innovation in online communities; and sustainable organizational IT practices, using a variety of empirical methods; network science, data science, design science, econometric analysis, randomized controlled trials, and quasi experimental causal inference methods. Overall, his research aims to deepen understanding of how organizations leverage information systems and information technologies to innovate, compete and survive in the digital economy. He has previously taught Business Intelligence and Data Analytics courses.

Boris Garbuzov

Boris Garbuzov is an Instructor within the Schulich School of Business, teaching Data Science Courses. He has a Ph.D. in Statistics, from the University of Toronto, received a MS Statistics, from the University of Western Ontario, has a MA in Economics, from Simon Fraser University, and a BBA in Finance (minor in math), from Simon Fraser University. Boris recently defended his thesis in statistics, having specialized in time series. His interests include time series and applications of statistics in economics.

Stefan Popowycz

Stefan Popowycz is a Partner, National People & Workforce Analytics Leader, the Core Operations, Busines Reporting & Analytics (COBRA) leader, and National Visual Analytics Leader at Deloitte Omnia AI (Deloitte Canada’s Artificial Intelligence practice). He specializes in the visual and analytics possibilities that occur at the intersection between data and human centered design.

Stefan gained extensive advanced analytics experience working at the Canadian Institute for Health Information benchmarking Canadian hospitals and building visualizations to communicate complex clinical indicators and health system performance to the public. Stefan’s recent Deloitte work has concentrated on Financial Services, Energy & Resources, and Public Sector industries, with a strong focus on Workforce/People Analytics & Pay Equity, Asset & Wealth Management Analytics, and large-scale operational reporting deployments for clients.

Stefan was adjunct Professor at Schulich School of Business, where he developed and taught a foundational class in Visual Analytics & Information Design to Masters of Business Analytics (MBAN) students, he is a member Schulich MBAN advisory board, and Stefan is the Diversity & Inclusion Leader for Deloitte Omnia AI.

He also leads Omnia AI’s portfolio of Ecosystem and Alliance relationships that enable distinctive market offerings. Nat is recognized for his long-standing relationships and result-driven outcomes in modernizing finance and operations to enable business strategy, transformation and regulatory compliance through cloud, data and AI ready platforms, products and solutions. He volunteers as a board member of the Schulich MBAN and MMAI program. Nat believes in combining academia and industry to develop the next generation Analytics and AI leaders.
